The Hotel Portuense is located in the heart of Lisbon in Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, parallel to one of the most famous Lisbon avenues, Avenida da Liberdade. Since 1967, our hotel is located in a street embellished by its history and typicality, standing out for its Pombaline architecture.
Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, one of Lisbon’s most famous streets, tells stories that date back to the time of the great Portuguese poet, Luis Vaz De Camões. Next to our hotel, in Pátio do Tronco, was the Prisão do Tronco, where Camões was imprisoned for getting involved in a dispute in which his friends were involved. In this street you can find everything, palaces, theatres, typical restaurants and several shops.
The Hotel Portuense is an excellent choice for travellers who are interested in architecture, gastronomy and Portuguese culture. The privileged location allows easy access to the main historical, cultural and commercial points of downtown Lisbon.
